Some recounts tend to make a monster of a monarch. Nothing is clear here about what is true and what is not as Elizabeth was never tried nor convicted of any crimes.<\/p>\n<p>The well known stories are of Elizabeth killing and draining the surrounding area of virgin girls to bathe in\u00a0their\u00a0blood in order to keep her skin young and beautiful. This started with an incident\u00a0where\u00a0a servant girl, a virgin of course, pulled\u00a0Elizabeth&#8217;s\u00a0hair while brushing it.Elizabeth slapped the girl splitting her lip and getting blood on her hand. She was\u00a0said\u00a0to have noticed right away that the blood seemed to make her skin more youthful and vibrant.<\/p>\n<p>Stories of young girls being brought to the castle under the pretense of paid work at the castle as\u00a0maidservants and then\u00a0corralled\u00a0in the dungeons\u00a0until\u00a0called for ran\u00a0rampant\u00a0in the country. It was said that these girls would be hung upside down by chains around their ankles and would have their\u00a0throats\u00a0slit to allow\u00a0their\u00a0blood to drain out for Elizabeth&#8217;s baths.
